Description

Second time I did a big drawing on black paper. Used 5 base colors
Finished some time in 2005(have no idea when I started or how long it took, it was just hanging there for long periods of time)
No references
Size: A1 (I had to take a picture of it to get it in here since it's too huge for my scanner, which resulted in loss of some of the details :/ if anyone has good advice on how to get better results, they're most welcome)

>>>Please also take a look at the closeups, they reveal important things that aren't so noticeable in this version!!

Great work. The hair could benefit from a few strands here or there with in area where parting is, so that it face appears to be more three dimensional. Wrinkles on forehead seem to run straight across, rather curves that transition from straight near to center of forehead to a similar curve to top of head. Overall a nice piece, especially the colors you've used for its' creation.

If your image is larger than your scanner is capable, scan it twice or more depending on size then reassemble it in Photoshop or similar program.

loneorbit: the problem is that it's much too large..scanning size A1 with a scanner made for A4 would completely ruin the drawing, as i have to place something on top of it each time to make it immobile, and this creates folds on the paper..i tried scanning A3 with that scanner, i always end up with a fold across the middle of the drawing, which, dare i say, pisses me off slightly..
thanks for the constructive crits, however..
i don't know about the hair, i wanted to keep all of it away from his face and limit it to very few strands..actually he was bald originally, then i figured he looks too much like the image in his own eyes, which would be kind of confusing..but i see what you mean about the forehead, maybe it should be a bit more curvy

Diegoth: thanks very much, glad you like it!

Nice colors:)

You've put a lot of effort in it and it shows

Nice details, the nosewings look a bit weird
but somehow suits the character

wow, great expression of sadness! love the details except i have to agree with loneorbit about the wrinkles on his forehead. it seemed to looked as if it was sliced compared to the rest of it, and the nose needs a tad shading, IMO. i love the color used and the detials of his eyebrow on the close up!

i see what you mean about what he's looking at, a smiley! lol JK. maybe he's dead son or relative. that's why he's sad! overall a great addition to your gallery. thanks for sharing your work! ^^,

ronn: wow, thanks for the long critique! i agree about the forehead being a bit too flat, but about the shading of the nose :? unfortunately it looks different in reality, i sacrificed a lot of details taking a picture of this, and that was one of them. the contrast and colors turned out all fucked up. i adjusted them the best i could in photoshop, but still the highest highs and lowest lows cannot be seen..
see this is what i love about not rushing in with what my thoughts were while creating the artwork. i hadn't thought about the relative thing at all. to me it was just obvious that it must be himself that's dying and it's the smirking face of the reaper that he's seeing. thanks a bunch for your feedback, man, i'm really glad you like it!

Daykan & deManuel: thank you very very much! all comments are greatly appreciated!
