I rarely give my drawings away since they all have a very personal meaning to me, but this was done especially for two good friends of mine.
The style of this drawing is not so common for my artwork nowadays, I usually did this kind of stuff when I was younger, but it was still fun to draw the wings and lots of little details.

I tried to scan this, but I'm not so happy about the way it looks...It seems like a lot of the grey tones have just vanished, taking with them some of the details even after adjustments in photoshop 7.0..but oh well.

Very beautiful work, I absolutely love the way you did the wings, unusual and very pretty!
The anatomy is a little bit off though. The thingies in the corners are a bit distracting...

Excellent, the wings and their expressions look just great.. perfect in my opinion. Technically speaking, and although you may say some details and tones have disappeared, I think it looks amazing.

loneorbit: hehe, i was actually going for that half-statue feel. there's something symbolic in that

not in a negative way, though!
Diane: yes, you're right about the mistakes, unfortunately i didn't have too much time to think about them, just sort of doodled away with this one to be able to finish the drawing itself in time. the thingies in the corners, well i wanted to personalize this a bit, so i put them there to write the initials of the ones i gave this to! thank you for the constructive crit

Wow, very unusual indeed! I love how you’ve made the girls hair, the details on his wings, the folds on her clothes and the shading on the background. I kinda agree with diane about the anatomy specifically his right shoulder. The horizontal scan line at the lower middle slightly bothers me. Nevertheless, the overall presentation is sensational!

Still +10, for the overall masterpiece, love the style… keep them coming!

ronn: wow! thank you for the long comment! lol, actually both of them are chicks, but well, i see something wrong with all of the shoulders and hands in this one. the horizontal lines are actually not scan lines, they're there because of my scanner. unfortunately when you put the lid on that thing, it presses the drawing down and creates a fold..so i couldn't get it away by scanning it again :/ one more reason to hate my scanner.

hehe, thanks a bunch, man! well in a way i find it more relaxing to stare at the paper before me instead of looking at a screen. the artwork becomes more personal for me that way, and also it's easier to stop myself from doing too many little details. the computer does nothing for my weakness there..

i really dig this - the only thing that im having a prob with is the wings.

see wings are like hands or claws that have been extended and they open and close very similarly. you should study how bird wings evolved, it should give you an idea.

bakatron: lol, yeah i know, she would really have trouble flying with those things, they're also way too 'thin' to be able to hold her up. but i figured they look like wings and they're pretty and fit with the rest of the drawing, so i didn't go in depth with the anatomy there. they mainly serve a decorative purpose

There is something in the proportions and composition which make it a bit unnatural. Composition seems heavy although it should seem lighter, smoother and easier. ... and I'm not sure does this winged creature want to bite the neck or not as it almost seems that she got her eyes open.

BUT It is quite nice, like it. (I think it's about display resolution, higher resolution makes the eyes seem smaller)

Olkkonen: why should the composition seem lighter? I don't understand. It was obviously a deliberate choice to do the drawing the way I did it. The only crit which I agree with there is that the proportions of the two aren't perfect, since I didn't have the time for checking the anatomy.

wow. the shape of tthe wings really create movement and an emotion-filled atmosphere. the attentions to detail really make this piece great. really like the curves extending throughout the composition, especially moving in and out of the contrast. like an intense love and sadness in this.

I love the wings (as everyone also does, hehe) but the strokes on the background are really interesting for me... They add intensity and drama to the whole drawing
