Description

I suppose no introduction's necessary, but just for the sake of clarity: This is a portrait of The Joker.

I watched The Dark Knight the other night and got inspired to do this, so I started immediately when I woke up the next morning.

Usually I have a somewhat clean style of painting/drawing, but I felt a bit of chaos would be appropriate for this one.

Time: 2-3 hours max

References: none or several, depending on how you count. This is not based on any specific photos. I had the image in my head but I looked at about 25 different photos of Heath Ledger(also in other roles than the Joker) to figure out his face correctly.

Tools: Photoshop CS3 + Wacom Volito2 tablet
Brushes: 1, I think it was a charcoal something
Layers: 1

The original is about 5-6 times bigger.

I like the painting, no crits here but as you say, you seen the movie which is what inspired you to paint this.... I dont think it portray just how evil and twisted he really is in the new movie (Very dark) I think perhaps it could have been better if you somehow shown him as being as crazy as he really is :) ....saying that, the movie advertisers did not portray him as being what he is in the movie either.
Great movie, all should go watch!
7/7 for the painting. Very good work

Mr.EOS: not sure what you mean when you say it doesn't portray how he's 'evil and twisted'. In my opinion one doesn't have to be cutting up another person on an image to show that he has a dark personality. And as the title says, this is the image I get in my head when I remember that line

Nothing against your work... I just think that when you see the joker from the new movie he looks quite tame.. untl you see him in the movie.
It wasnt nothing personal against your work. I think your painting is very good :)

Xid: what? trust me, you're not the only person in the world who has made a painting with that title. And no, I didn't. I got the idea of painting Joker as he was about to carve a smile into someone's face after watching the movie and thus my idea had nothing to do with your painting.
Carlos, Lnr11c7: thanks for your support :)

Haven't seen the movie. Interesting character, nice use of colours. I am impressed with your ability to diversify your works.

I like the loose painterly, scratchy feel this has. It is twisted in its own way.

This is a great piece. It's like when one of your doodles 'grows up,' and you are so surprised to see how it turns out!

I think you've captured the Ledger-behind-the-Joker brilliantly.

Top marks.

cool loose style here Mariam. All I will say is you copied my idea of painting a guy called Joker who has white face paint and red lips!!! ;)

ahahah! Thanks Andy :p Yeah I'm terrible with ripping off others' works
